Zlatovez Scarf

A stunning scarf for the dressiest affairs. This sheer black scarf is hand-embroidered with metallic golden thread and finished with a hand-knotted fringe.

The technique of hand-embroidery with gold thread (zlatovez) is traditional to eastern Croatia. The finest pieces are embroidered by hand, not by machine like the pieces you will find in tourist shops. Mara, the artisan, has been practicing this traditional craft for the past 27 years while promoting and preserving the heritage of the region with other craftspeople. The golden embroidery design is inspired by authentic traditional costume from Slavonia and Baranja.

Size: Approx. 35 cm wide x 124 cm long not including fringe, or 150 cm long including fringe.

Scarf material: 50% polyester / 50% viscose.

Care instructions: As with any artisanal item, the gentler care you give it, the longer it will retain its beauty. If you need to wash this article, the artist recommends 30°c hand wash, hang to air dry, warm iron if necessary.
